Dr. Kevin Jackson BSc. N.D. has studied human nutrition and diet since the age of 16. His practice is located in Victoria, B.C. and he has a special interest in fungal/mold related illnesses, women’s health issues, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, endocrine related disorders, chronic diseases, and childhood health concerns. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta and his doctoral diploma from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. At the age of 16, Dr. Jackson started university in his quest to become a medical doctor with an ultimate goal of a career in cancer research. At the age of 17, he was struck with a seriously debilitating form of arthritis. Conventional medicine was unsuccessful in treating the severe pain he experienced despite the myriad of pharmaceuticals that were prescribed. Taking the situation into his own hands he began to research the relationship between food, nutrition and disease.
After 6 months on a modified diet with the addition of indicated supplementation, all symptoms of the condition were gone. Eight months later when he returned to his old diet and stopped the supplementation, the symptoms reappeared with a vengeance, disappearing only when he returned to his new found “cure”. This sparked him to seek out all the information he could find on diet, nutrition and human biochemistry as it became his ongoing passion. With this expertise, he became a consultant for those wishing a natural approach to disease. After graduating with a B.Sc. from the University of Alberta in 1980, he decided not to apply to medical school as he had become disillusioned by the tendency of the medical profession to treat the symptoms of disease rather than the cause. He hoped some day to use his new found nutritional knowledge to benefit humankind.
In 1986, Dr. Jackson first learned of the Naturopathic profession and knew instantly it was a perfect fit for him. In 1992 he attended the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and graduated as Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine with honours in May 1996. He has since been in practice and has helped thousands of patients, promoting health through proper diet and nutrition with the addition of botanical medicine, acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, nutriceuticals, lifestyle intervention, counselling and orthomolecular medicine.
